Shiftlock
Before moving the lever away from N with the
vehicle stationary, first depress the footbrake,
otherwise the desired gearshift will not be
performed.
R Reverse
Engage this gear only when the car is standing
still.
N Neutral
Always engage this position before starting the
engine.
If necessitated by the driving situation, e.g.
when downshifting on a slippery road, the
Sequential M Gearbox automatically disen-
gages and re-engages the clutch, i.e. engaging
neutral manually is not necessary.
S Sequential mode
You shift up and down via the shift paddles or
the selector lever, without needing to take your
foot off the accelerator.
It is also possible to move off in second gear on
flat roads, e.g. in slippery conditions.
D Drive mode
In the Drive mode, all forward gears are
changed automatically.
Every time the engine is started, the Drive mode
is active when you press the selector lever to
the right in forward travel position Β with the
brake depressed.
To change over from the Drive to the Sequential
mode: press the selector lever to the right in
direction D/S or change gear using the shift
paddles or the selector lever.
To change back to the Drive mode: press the
selector lever to the right again in direction D/S.

Kick-down: to accelerate rapidly, e.g. for over-
taking manoeuvres, press the accelerator down
fully. You achieve maximum acceleration.

If the gear indicator flashes while the
engine is running, the driver's door or
engine compartment lid is open.
If you open the driver's door with the engine
running and do not operate the pedals, shift
paddles or selector lever, N is engaged auto-
matically after a few seconds. If the engine
compartment lid is open, N is likewise engaged
and you will be unable to drive off.
In these instances, close the driver's door or
engine compartment lid and move the selector
lever first to position N, then to the forward
travel position.<
