Configuring Layer 2

The IP address and default gateway can be either dynamically or statically configured. In Layer 2, a
static IP address is configured on the VLAN Management Properties Page. The Management VLAN is
set to VLAN 100 by default, but can be modified.
When the system is in stacking mode with a Backup Master present, configure the IP address as a static
address. This prevents disconnecting from the network during a Stacking Master switchover.

The IP Interface Page contains fields for assigning IP addresses. Packets are forwarded to the default IP
when frames are sent to a remote network. The configured IP address must belong to the same IP address
subnet of one of the IP interfaces.
