Cleaning the card feed rollers and heat roller

Tips – Laminator cleaning
card
• The heat roller cannot be
cleaned while hot. Power
the printer off and allow it
to cool, or perform
cleaning before the heat
roller reaches operating
temperature.
Clean the card feed
•
rollers and heat roller
every 1,000 printed
cards.
Use the cleaning card
•
one time only. Using a
dirty cleaning card can
cause damage to the
rollers.

Most card jams are caused by dirty rollers. Clean the laminator at the same
time that you clean the printer. If you are using the laminator as a stand-alone
unit, clean the laminator after every 1,000 cards.
The heat roller provides the heat used during the retransfer process. The card
feed rollers move the card inside the laminator. See
on page 80 to find the location of the rollers.
Begin with the printer and laminator powered off.

2 Open the laminator door.
Remove the laminator cartridge, remove patch or topcoat material, and

replace the empty cartridge into the laminator.
Close the laminator door and turn on the power of the laminator. The

red status light starts blinking.
Press the operator button for two
5
seconds or longer. This starts the
cleaning process.
Remove the protective paper from a
6
cleaning card.
Insert the cleaning card into the card
7
outlet of the laminator. The card is
drawn in by the roller. Cleaning starts
automatically and is discharged from
the card outlet.
Press the operator button for two

seconds or longer.
Reverse the adhesive face of the cleaning card and insert it into the

card outlet. The cleaning card is discharged from the card outlet of the
laminator.
Power off the laminator.

11 Open the laminator door and reinstall the film cartridge in the
laminator.
Power the laminator on.
