Trouble-shooting
If a problem occurs during fax operation, check the list of possible problem
causes. If the problem cannot be found in the list, please contact your
local service centre.

General problems

Problem description
The machine will not switch on.
The display shows PAPER OUT.
Document will not feed in.
The display shows INK OUT.
The paper will not feed in correctly.
The paper is crumpled after receiving
a fax transmission.

Possible cause / solution
The power plug is not in the power
socket.
There is no paper in the paper
holder.
The paper is not correctly inserted in
the paper holder.
The document paper is too thin or too
thick.
A previous document is jammed in
the document feeder. Remove the
jammed document.
The ink cartridge is empty. Install a
new ink cartridge.
Some paper sheets are stuck
together. Fan through the paper
sheets before inserting them in the
paper holder.
Too many paper sheets have been
inserted in the paper holder. Remove
a few sheets.
Paper sheets of different qualities
have been inserted in the paper
holder. Always use paper of the
same quality.
The paper has not been correctly
inserted in the paper holder.
