    ECM ON/OFF What does ECM mean? The Minoltafax 1400 transmits data in the ITU-T ECM (= Error Correction Mode). This is the communication standard for fax machines of group 3 (G3). With this procedure lost data parts are sent repeatedly enabling the transmission error rate to be reduced considerably.

    Is the incoming call a manual fax transmission or a voice call? The Minoltafax 1400 will not switch over to auto fax mode, but will allow the fax machine to ring a further seven times. If the incoming call remains unanswered, your machine will automatically switch over to auto fax mode.

    Is the incoming call an automatic fax transmission? You will hear a fax machine signal. The Minoltafax 1400 will recognise the incoming signal and automatically start receiving the fax transmission. If software switch 54 has been set at 00 (OFF), your fax machine will not start automatically.

    E-MODE = ANSWER appears in the display. Is the incoming call an automatic fax transmission? You will hear a fax machine signal. The Minoltafax 1400 will recognise the incoming signal and automatically start receiving the fax transmission. Is the incoming call a voice call? The connect answering machine will accept the call after the programmed amount of rings and send your answer message.

    Receiving faxes Receiving selected faxes Incoming faxes will only be received if the sender number is programmed as a one-touch number in your fax machine and the station identification has been correctly programmed. The number of the calling machine is not a one-touch number? The incoming fax transmission will be automatically stopped as soon as RECEIVE appears in the display.
