Replacing Modules in a 5-Slot Carrier
Replacing a module in a 5-slot carrier involves many of the steps used in
installing the modules.
CAUTION:
Before starting, verify that you have batteries installed in the processor
module by viewing the display of the telephone at extension 10.
Follow these steps to replace a module in a 5-slot carrier:
Move the On/Off switch to the "Off" position ("O").

Remove the power cord from the wall outlet.

Perform the following steps to remove the cover:

Loosen the thumb screw at the bottom of the carrier cover.

Rotate the carrier cover to disengage the tabs at the top of the modules

from the openings on the top of the carrier cover.
Before installing a module, remove the clear, plastic protector from the

connector area on the rear of the module by grasping the tabs on the ends
of the protector and lifting.
Check the slack in the wires. If there is not enough slack to remove the

module without pulling the line and extension cords free, label and
disconnect the wires.
Place one hand on top of the module. With the other hand, grip the plastic
6
bracket on the bottom front of the module, and pull out the old module.
