Chapter 4
NOTE
The HP NetServer must be shutdown to remove the peripheral
bay. The peripheral bay can be removed without removing the
memory board(s) or the Fan cage and the Processor tray.
To remove the peripheral bay, refer to the following procedure.
1. If necessary, remove the hot swap hard disk drive(s) before powering down
the HP NetServer.
2. Follow the instructions in Chapter 3, "Opening and Closing the HP
NetServer" to shutdown the HP NetServer's respective NOS.
3. Disconnect the power cord from the power strip.
4. Read the documentation included with the tape backup (DAT) drive for
any special handling or installation instructions.
5. Remove the front bezel from the HP NetServer.
Refer to Chapter 3, "Opening and Closing the HP NetServer."
6. Loosen the three thumbscrews from the memory bay cover, and remove
the cover. See Figure 4-4.
It may be necessary to lift the LCD display handle to remove the memory
bay cover, but it is not necessary to remove the memory boards from the
HP NetServer to remove the peripheral bay.
7. Remove the two screws (Torx
the peripheral bay. See Figure 4-4.
8. Use the handle on the front of the peripheral bay to unplug it from its
connector. See Figure 4-4.
9. Pull peripheral bay forward firmly, but slowly, to remove it from the
chassis and place it on a flat surface.
