Enable Routing for the Switch

The example is shown as CLI commands and as a Web interface procedure.
CLI: Enable Routing for the Switch
The following script shows the commands you would use to configure a 7000 Series
Managed Switch to provide the port routing support shown in

Use the following command to enable routing for the switch. Execution of the command
enables IP forwarding by default.
(Netgear Switch) #config
(Netgear Switch) (Config)#ip routing
(Netgear Switch) (Config)#exit
Web Interface: Enable Routing for the Switch

Select Routing > IP > Basic > IP Configuration. A screen similar to the following
displays.

For Routing Mode, select the Enable radio button.

Click Apply to save the settings.

Enable Routing for Ports on the Switch

Use the following commands or the Web interface to enable routing for ports on the switch.
The default link-level encapsulation format is Ethernet. Configure the IP addresses and
subnet masks for the ports. Network-directed broadcast frames will be dropped. The
maximum transmission unit (MTU) size is 1500 bytes.
