Installing the Operating System Drivers
Using CPQDAOPT on Existing
NetWare/intraNetWare Servers
If CPQDAOPT is already installed in the server's SYSTEM directory, use the
following steps to run the NLM.
1. Load the Compaq Drive Array Optimization NLM by executing the
following server console command:
2. If you receive an error while loading CPQDAOPT, it may indicate that
your version of CLIB is earlier than v3.11c. Otherwise
CPQDAOPT.NLM displays the registered disk devices it has located.
Select the device where you will create a partition by using the cursor
keys and press Enter.
3. CPQDAOPT determines if it is possible to optimize the alignment of
data on the selected device. If so, it provides a formula for determining
the size of the Hot Fix Redirection Area you should select when
creating this partition. Make a note of the formula: even, odd, and so
on.
4. In some cases, it may not be possible to optimally align the data on the
partition by sizing the Hot Fix Redirection Area alone. CPQDAOPT
may instruct you to create a small DOS partition on the device. If so:
a.
b.
c.
5. Use the formula recommended by CPQDAOPT to determine the
number of Hot Fix Redirection Blocks to assign for the partition
installed on the selected device. Make sure that the number of blocks is
the same as described by the formula. For example, if the result of the
formula was "even," any even number will work.
6. If you have already created a partition on a device, CPQDAOPT may
be used to determine if the data is optimally aligned.
