    The CR 30-X System has the following configuration: • the CR 30-X digitizer, a digitizer for image plates retaining latent X-ray images. The CR 30-X accepts one cassette containing one image plate at a time. • NX 1.0 or higher. NX is a CR workstation for image acquisition, identification, image processing and image transmission of digitized images received from the digitizer.

    Check whether the UPS is connected to a power outlet. Press and hold the On button approximately one second until you hear the UPS beep. Note: Step 1 is only applicable if your CR 30-X System is extended with an uninterruptible power supply (UPS).

  • Page 15 Make sure that the cassette is firmly pushed to the right side of the slot [2]. Otherwise, the CR 30-X cannot read the image plate. Note: The cassette is unidentified, so the CR 30-X will send a request to the NX Station. The NX Software must be operational, otherwise the CR 30-X is locked and the status indicator is flashing red.
  • Page 16 In the Examination window, select the thumbnail in the Image overview pane and click on ID to send the data to the digitizer. As soon as the CR 30-X digitizer has received the complete identification data from the NX Station (via FireWire) it will start digitizing the image plate.
  • Page 17 Remove the cassette from the cassette slot. Note: When the CR 30-X unlock the cassette, it is ready to be re-used immediately. However, if you leave it for more than 3 days before re-using it, you must re-erase it first.

    Intended User This manual has been written for trained users of Agfa products and trained diagnostic X–Ray clinical personnel who have received proper training. Users are those persons who actually handle the equipment and those who have authority over the equipment.
  • Page 36: Configuration

    CR 30-X Configuration The CR 30-X is always dedicated to a single workstation, on which the identification software as well as the image processing software is running. The identification data are transmitted from the workstation to the digitizer via FireWire. For more information, refer to the workstation’s On-line Help manuals or contact your local service organization.

    The documentation shall be kept with the system for easy reference. Technical documentation is available in the product service documentation which is available from your local support organization.     CR 30-X Training The user must have received adequate Agfa training on the safe and effective use of the product before attempting to work with it. Training requirements may vary from country to country. The user should ensure that training is received in accordance with local laws or regulations that have the force of law.

    CR 30-X Compatibility The CR 30-X must only be used in combination with other equipment or components if these are expressly recognized by Agfa as compatible. A list of such equipment and components is available from Agfa service on request.

    93/42/EEC MDD (European Council Directive 93/42/EEC on Medical Devices). The CR 30-X has been designed in accordance with the IEC 60601-1, Ed. 3: Medical electrical equipment - Part 1: General requirements for basic safety and essential performance.

    CR 30-X installation and configuration is performed by Agfa. The CR 30-X is equipped with 2 handles at the bottom left and right sides to move the device easily to another location. It is recommended to have at least two persons lift the CR 30-X.

    The concept provides maximum reliability that no image plate jam can occur in the post scan area. Note: The CR 30-X always reads and digitizes the plate first, then erases it and transports it back into the cassette. If a plate jam occurs before the plate is scanned, there is a fair chance that you can recover the image by putting the image plate back into the cassette and digitizing it again.

    Initialization Initializing Cassette, Tray and Image Plate For the CR 30-X Plates and Cassettes, the image plate code has been factory embedded in the memory chip (RF-tag) of the tray. This means that the tray and the image plate should always be kept together. A tray and image plate set can be used in any CR 30-X cassette.

    When to clean the tray and image plate? The inner lining of the CR 30-X cassette is made of fleece. This ensures a high degree of protection against electrostatic charging and dust collection on the image plates.
  • Page 103 CR 30-X P LATES AND ASSETTES How to clean the tray and image plate? Insert a key or a pen into the cassette lock to open the shutter. Remove the key or the pen. Turn the cassette around, so that the black tube side is above.
  • Page 104 CR 30-X P LATES AND ASSETTES Put the black tray with the image plate onto the cassette, as shown in the figure below. The tray has 2 little hooks. Put the tray onto the cassette in such a way that the hooks reach over the border of the cassette.
  • Page 105 CR 30-X P LATES AND ASSETTES Put the tray with the image plate back into the cassette. Verify that the white phosphor side is oriented to the black tube side of the cassette and that the shutter does not scratch the image plate.

  • Page 113 Dust and dirt build up on CR phosphor plates, leading to image artifacts. To avoid this, plates need cleaning at regular intervals. As CR imaging plates are highly sensitive to water-based cleaning fluids, Agfa has developed an ethanol-based plate cleaner. Using this cleaner, specially designed for CR phosphor plates, will help ensure them the longest service life.
