Introduction

Network Wide Backup & Restore
The Network Wide Backup & Restore Release 1.0 optional application enables
the INM user to easily restore NE, Express NPC, or OPC/MOA lost data. The
backup feature provides the ability to centralize and automate the backup of
NE database and OPC configuration data to an INM server. The restore feature
provides the ability to restore the backed up data when required.
Note: The Backup & Restore feature is not compatible with previous
OPC/MOA releases.
With this application, an INM user can create network wide backups, which
are placed on centralized storage (such as a hard drive). In the event of an OPC
or NPC hardware failure or a provisioning error, the backup can be used to
restore the controller and recover.
The backup is performed from the OPC or NPC to the INM controller
workstation. Similarly, the restore operation restores from the INM controller
to the OPC.
The Backup & Restore application
contains a Backup Manager and a Restoration Manager
will not create a processing load that can severly impact other processes on
the controller or INM platforms
gives a snapshot of the data on the controller at the time of the backup
provides two timestamps that are generated by the
— process that creates the backup file; the time is based on the controller's
— INM workstation requesting the backup; the time indicates when
is compatible with the following SONET NE controllers:
— OPC (OC-48 Release 15, and OC-192 Release 6)
