Introduction
1.1
Hardware package
The hardware package includes all of the hardware components required that must be replaced
in the scope of the "3rd Party LCI Control Upgrade" solution. The following components must be
replaced:
• SINAMICS control system
• Excitation unit
• Snubber circuitry (optional)
• Thyristor electronics (TAS cards)
• Voltage actual value sensing
• Ground fault detection
• Output current monitoring
• Output current transformer (when required, optional replacement)
• Incremental encoder for marine propulsion applications (if not already installed)
• The DC current must be measured twice (using two AVTs or using two current transformers)
Hardware components of the SINAMICS standard control unit are required as precondition. For
each upgrade inquiry - after local assessment on site - the preconditions required for hardware
components must be clarified during technical evaluation for each project.

These operating instructions are based on a control upgrade from SIMOVERT S to SINAMICS
GL150 technology. Deviations can occur as a result of the different design principles of third-
party converters.
These Operating Instructions describe the device and provide you with information about
handling it - from the initial shipment up to disposal. Keep these instructions for later use.
Read these Operating Instructions and comply with the information provided in them. In this
way you can ensure safe, problem-free operation and a long service life.
Safety information and handling-related warnings are provided in these Operating Instructions.
