Vehicle Installation Considerations

Connect the Router to the Vehicle's Electrical System
To connect the router to the vehicle's electrical system:
1. Ensure that the vehicle is turned off.
2. Remove the key from the ignition.
3. Disconnect the vehicle's battery:
4. Connect the black (ground) wire on the DC power cable to the vehicle chassis.
5. Ensure that the LX60 is grounded. (See
6. Use a 4 A, fast blow fuse, recommended to have no more than ±10% de-rating over
7. Connect the white wire (On/Off control) on the DC power cable to the ignition signal
8. Connect the DC power cable to the LX60.
9. Reconnect the vehicle's battery:
Vehicle Installation: Option 1
This vehicle installation allows the router to operate with the vehicle, in that when the
vehicle ignition is off, the router is off. For vehicle installations, Sierra Wireless
recommends connecting the white On/Off control wire to the vehicle's ignition switch, as
shown in the following illustration.
