BELT / CLUTCH ALIGNMENT

If creeping or difficult shifting is experienced at idle,
perform the following clutch offset adjustment procedure.
Proper clutch offset should yield at least .025" clearance
to the sheave on both sides of the belt.
1. Remove the outer PVT cover.
2. Inspect the drive belt to determine if the belt is riding
on the stationary or movable sheave. The belt should
be centered between the sheaves.
3. Remove the drive belt (see Drive Belt Removal page
6.9). Verify the belt is not worn, burned, dished, or
glazed.
IMPORTANT
Ensure the correct belt is used.
4. Measure the projected width of the drive belt. Use a
straight edge across the top of the belt to provide a
more accurate measurement. Replace if necessary.
