Fuel Pump Replacement - Polaris Sportsman XP 1000 S 2020 Service Manual

FUEL PUMP REPLACEMENT

1. Slide fuel tank out to allow enough access to service
the fuel pump, see "Fuel Tank Removal".
2. Ensure the top of fuel tank is clean. If the fuel tank
requires cleaning, scrub with a soft brush and mild
soapy water. Do NOT use any other solvents or acids
to clean the fuel tank, as these products could
damage the fuel pump and/or fuel pump rubber
cover.
IMPORTANT
Failure to clean area around fuel pump may lead to
debris entering the fuel tank during service. Excessive
debris in fuel tank may cause premature wear of fuel
pump and/or clogging of internal fuel filters.
3. If equipped, remove the fuel pump rubber cover as
follows:
a. Slowly lift the bottom lip of the rubber cover off the
PFA nut.
b. Carefully disconnect the main harness from the
fuel pump electrical connector and pull the main
harness connector through the "+" shaped pass-
through in the cover.

4. Place a Fuel Pump Service Tool (PU-50326)

the fuel pump PFA nut . Using a 1/2" drive ratchet
or breaker bar, loosen and remove the PFA nut.
Discard the PFA nut.
NOTICE
Apply a light downward force on the fuel pump flange
while removing the fuel pump PFA nut.
