Error Messages

The following is a list of all error messages issued by HP 8114A, and a
table showing the contents of status registers.

Local message, Description
Error
-100
Command header error
HP-IB message = "Instrument in LOCAL LOCKOUT
mode"
Local message = "Instrument in LOCAL LOCKOUT
mode"
Description:
The Local key was pressed on the front panel while
the Instrument was set to Local lockout.
-102
Syntax error
HP-IB message = "[device-dependent info] V
Local message = "[device-dependent info]"
Description:
An unrecognized command or data type was
encountered; for example, a string was received when
the device does not accept strings.
-131
Invalid suffix
HP-IB message = "Channel out of range"
Local message = "Channel out of range"
Description:
The channel suffix given with a channel sensitive
command is out of range.
-148
Character data not allowed
HP-IB message = "No MIN/MAX allowed while
warnings are active"
Local message = "No MIN/MAX while warnings are
active"
Description:
An attempt was made to set a parameter to MIN/MAX
resp. to ask for the MINNAX of a parameter while
warnings were active.
This does not work because other parameters on
which the MINMAX result depends might already be
outside no-warn range.
