Concept of zoning
Switch zoning is basically performed for each FC path between the port connected to a
server HBA and the port connected to the LT160 controller or a drive.
This section shows how zoning is done in each configuration.
3.3.1.1 Connection to a single server
This section provides an example of zoning when the tape library is connected to a single
server.

If zoning is not performed, both FC-HBAs can access the controller and all drives of the
LT160. The devices must be configured after fully identifying such characteristics to
prevent the operation from causing an unexpected operation.
If the zoning is performed as shown above, the FC-HBA#0 of the server can access only
the controller and drives #0 and #1 and FC-HBA#1 can access only drives #2 and #3. In
this way, each FC-HBA controls the relevant devices safely.
