To accom m odat e a variet y of m edia t ypes, print head pressur e is adj ust able. This pressure is
fact ory set t o work wit h m ost m edia t ypes, so t his adj ust m ent should only be perform ed aft er
at t em pt ing t o im prove print qualit y t hrough t he use of t he ( 1) heat and/ or ( 2) print speed. When
adj ust ing, use only t he m inim um pressure necessar y for bet t er im aging. To adj ust :
1.
Load at least 4" ( 102m m ) wide m edia and ribbon, see Sect ion 2.2.
2.
Ensure t he Media Widt h Adj ust m ent is set t o it s " left m ost " posit ion, see Sect ion 5.3.
3.
Print a t est label.

Turn t he Pressure Adj ust m ent Cam s count erclockwise t o increase t he applied pressure or
clockwise t o decrease it . Make equal adj ust m ent s t o each cam t o achieve even print cont rast
across t he m edia.
When using narrow m edia it is som et im es necessary t o increase t he pressure on t he inner
( closest t o cent erplat e) Pressure Adj ust m ent Cam t o prevent ribbon sm udging.
Excessive pressure can reduce t he service life of t he print head and plat en roller, while unequal
pressure m ay cause ribbon and label t racking problem s.
