The Burn Line has been adj ust ed for st rict com pliance using 6.5- m il ( .0065 inch) m edia, ensuring
print qualit y across a m aj orit y of m edia t ypes. I n ext rem e cases, however, if m edia of a different
t hickness or rigidit y is used ( for exam ple, heavy t ag st ock) t he print qualit y can change.
I f you have quest ions, cont act a qualified t echnician or Dat am ax- O'Neil Technical Support before
proceeding.
To adj ust t he Burn Line:
1.
Load t he print er wit h your m edia ( and ribbon, if required) .
2.
Loosen t he t wo Locking Screws approx im at ely ¼ t urn count er- clockwise.
3.
Turn t he Adj ust m ent Screws count er- clockwise unt il t he burn line is past t he plat en roller
vert ex. Print a t est label; t he label should look light and uneven.

Tight en t he Locking Screws j ust unt il t hey are 'snug' ( t ight enough t o rem ove any play in t he
print head assem bly, yet loose enough t o allow t he Adj ust m ent Screws t o m ove t he print head) .
5.
Turn each Adj ust m ent Screw clockwise about a ¼ t urn ( or 1/ 8 t urn for finer adj ust m ent s, see
not e below ) . Print anot her t est label and exam ine t he print qualit y. Repeat t his st ep unt il
labels are produced w it h even print cont rast and accept able print qualit y.
When t he Locking Screws are 'snug', t urning t he Adj ust m ent Screws count er- clockwise will NOT
m ove t he print head out ward; if you have adj ust ed t he print head t oo far inward, rest art t he ent ire
procedure.
6.
Tight en t he Locking Screws t hen print a final t est label t o verify t he adj ust m ent .
