Mounting WLC100 Wireless LAN Controllers on a Rack or Cabinet

NOTE:
Do not place any object on top of the controller chassis.
(Optional) Attach the optional standard cable lock to the slot for the security cable

Secure the cable to a desk or a rack and set the lock to the unlocked position.

You can mount WLC100 controllers on two posts of a two-post or a four-post 19-in. rack
or cabinet by using the rack-mount tray and screws provided with the WLC100 rack-mount
kit. The remainder of this topic uses rack to mean rack or cabinet.
NOTE:
The rack-mount kit is not shipped with the device and must be ordered
separately.
Before mounting the controller on two posts of a rack:
Verify that the site meets the requirements described in
for WLC100 Wireless LAN Controllers" on page
Place the rack in its permanent location, allowing adequate clearance for airflow and
maintenance, and secure it to the building structure.

Ensure that you have the following parts and tools available:
Phillips (+) screwdriver, number 2
1 rack-mount tray (provided in the separately orderable rack-mount kit)
2 system lock brackets (provided in the separately orderable rack-mount kit)
1 power adapter lock bracket (provided in the separately orderable rack-mount kit)
4 rack-mount screws of 12-24 thread type (provided in the separately orderable
rack-mount kit)
NOTE:
Do not block the vents on the controllers. Doing this can lead to
overheating of the controller chassis.
