4 Replacement Procedures

Installing the Cooling Fan

To install the cooling fan, follow the steps below and refer to figures 4-39 to 4-41.
CAUTION: When you remove the cooling fan, wipe the grease off of the bottom of the
heat sink and top of the CPU. Apply new grease.
1. Apply new grease on the top of the chip covered by the heat sink on the system
board.
2. Seat the heat sink unit.
3. Apply new grease on the top of the CPU.
4. Seat the cooling fan.
5. Secure the cooling fan with one M2.5×4 black flat-head screw.
6. Connect the power cable to PJ8770 (Satellite 2400) or PJ770 (Satellite 1400) on the
system board.
7. Seat the metal brace and connect it with two M2×6 screws.
