Loading Transparencies

You can load transparencies into the Paper Deck-AA1. Unlike normal paper, transparencies
have a specific printable surface to ensure the optimal reproduction of images.
You can load transparencies into the paper deck in the vertical orientation shown below.
Vertical placement:
IMPORTANT
• When loading transparencies, be careful not to touch the printable surface. Hold transparencies by their
edges.
• Fan stacks of transparencies slightly before loading. Loading transparencies without fanning them may
cause paper jams.
• Do not add more transparencies into the source while a copy job is in progress as this may cause paper
jams.
• Only use transparencies that are specifically recommended for use with this copier. Other
transparencies may damage the copier.
• To prevent paper jams or the folding of transparencies, it is recommended that you remove them from
the output tray as soon as possible.
• To feed transparencies from the paper deck, you first have to designate the paper deck as the feeding
location for transparencies. (See "Identifying the Type of Paper in a Paper Source," on p. 4-35.)
• Paper jams may occur if transparencies are not loaded in the correct orientation. If the message "The
transparency is placed incorrectly. Reposition it so that it is facing the correct way." is displayed after
removing jammed paper, reload the transparencies in the correct orientation. Then press [OK].
• Replace unused transparencies into the box they came in. Leaving them in the paper deck for an
extended period of time may cause the transparencies to adhere to one another and result in paper
jams. Avoid storing transparencies in a place subject to high temperature or humidity.
• Leaving unused transparencies in the paper deck for an extended period of time may cause them to
adhere to one another and result in paper jams. If this occurs, remove the transparencies and fan them
slightly, reduce the number of transparencies to 100 when more than 100 sheets of transparencies are
set, or use new transparencies.
NOTE
• You can load a maximum of 250 sheets of transparencies into the paper deck.
• If a paper jam occurs, remove the transparencies and fan them slightly before reloading them into the
paper deck.
• Transparencies cannot be set in the horizontal direction inside the paper deck.
• It is recommended that transparencies which are copied in the Full Color mode be used with
transparent type overhead projectors. Transparencies may appear dark with reflective type overhead
projectors.
Position the side to be copied face up.
