Removing a module
Remove the module in an Ethernet Routing Switch 8300 series chassis.
Voltage:
Risk of injury by electric shock Before working on this equipment, be aware of proper safety
practices and the hazards involved with electrical circuits. Use only power cords that have
a grounding path. Ensure the switch is properly grounded before powering on the unit.
You can remove any Ethernet Routing Switch 8300 Series module from an operating switch
chassis without turning off the chassis power.
Caution:
To maintain proper cooling, never operate the Ethernet Routing Switch 8300 Series chassis
with an empty power supply bay. If you are replacing a failed power supply and you do not
have a power filler panel, leave the failed power supply installed until a replacement power
suplly is available.
Procedure steps
1. Disconnect cables attached to the ports on the module.
2. Use a Phillips screwdriver to loosen the two captive screws that secure the module
3. Rotate the insert or the extract levers to eject the module from the chassis.
