General Precautions for Removing and Installing Hydraulic System

5. To prevent contamination of the hydraulic system during steering control
valve removal, thoroughly clean the exterior of the control valve and fittings.
6. For assembly purpose, label all the hydraulic connections. Note the port
designations on the steering control valve.
Before opening the hydraulic system, operate all hydraulic controls
to release system pressure and avoid injury from the pressurized
hydraulic fluid: refer to
5–3).
7. Disconnect the hydraulic lines from the steering control valve. Allow the
lines to drain into a suitable container.
8. Install the clean cap or plugs on the hydraulic lines and fittings to prevent
contamination.
9. Remove the steering control valve from the machine using
a guide.
10. If the hydraulic fittings are to be removed from the steering control valve, mark
the fitting orientation to allow correct assembly. Remove the fittings from the
steering control valve and discard O-rings; refer to
g278283
1.
