Test the Fuel Select Operation -
Ford Models
Genie specifications require that this procedure be
performed every 250 hours or quarterly, whichever
comes first.
The ability to select and switch between
gasoline and LPG fuels as needed is essential to
safe machine operation. A fuel selection can be
made while the engine is running or not.
Fuel switching malfunctions and/or the failure of the
engine to start and run properly in both fuel
modes and through all idle speeds can indicate fuel
system problems that could develop into a
hazardous situation.
Note: Perform this test after checking the gasoline
and LPG fuel levels.
1 Start the engine from the platform controls and
allow the engine to run at low idle.
2 Press high idle button at the platform controls to
allow the engine to run at high idle.
Result: The high idle indicator light should be on
and the engine should start promptly and
operate smoothly in low and high idle.
3 Press high idle button again to return the engine
to low idle.
Result: The high idle indicator light should turn
off and the engine should return to low idle.

4 Press the engine stop button.
Result: The engine should stop.
5 Press the LPG operation button.
Result: The LPG indicator light should be on.
6 Start the engine and allow it to run at low idle.
7 Press high idle button to allow the engine to run
at high idle.
Result: The high idle indicator light should be on
and the engine should start promptly and
operate smoothly in low and high idle.
Note: The engine may hesitate momentarily and
then continue to run on the selected fuel if the fuel
source is switched while the engine is running.
