Platform Leveling Master
Cylinder
The master cylinder acts as a pump for the slave
cylinder. It's part of the closed circuit hydraulic loop
that keeps the platform level through the entire
range of boom motion. The master cylinder is
located at the base of the primary boom.
How to Remove the Platform
Leveling Master Cylinder
Note: When removing a hose assembly or fitting,
the O-ring (if equipped) on the fitting and/or hose
end must be replaced. All connections must be
torqued to specification during installation. Refer to
Specifications, Hydraulic Hose and Fitting Torque
Specifications.

Raise the secondary boom until both the
rod-end and barrel-end pivot pins on the
master cylinder are accessible.

Tag, disconnect and plug the master cylinder
hydraulic hoses. Cap the fittings on the
cylinder.
Bodily injury hazard. Spraying
hydraulic oil can penetrate and
burn skin. Loosen hydraulic
connections very slowly to allow
the oil pressure to dissipate
gradually. Do not allow oil to
squirt or spray.

Attach overhead crane or similar lifting device
to the master cylinder.

Remove the pin retaining fasteners from the
master cylinder barrel-end pivot pin.

Place a rod through the barrel-end pivot pin
and twist to remove the pin.

Remove the pin retaining fastener from the
rod-end pivot pin.

Place a rod through the rod-end pivot pin and
twist to remove the pin.
8
Remove the master cylinder from the
machine.
Crushing hazard. The master
cylinder could become
unbalanced and fall if not
properly attached to the
overhead crane.
