12.1 Report messages

To indicate the unit's fax transmission/reception status, one of the following messages will be printed on the sending
and journal reports (page 58).

NO DOCUMENT / FAILED PICKUP

Code Cause & Solution
40-42 R A transmission or reception error occurred. Try
46-72 again or check with the other party.
FF
43 R A line problem occurred. Connect the telephone line
44 cord to a different socket and try again.
R An overseas transmission error occurred. Try using
the overseas mode (feature #411 on page 76).
----- R Remove the jammed document (page 126).
53 R A transmission or reception error occurred because
54 of a problem with the other party's fax machine.
59 Check with the other party.

----- R The memory is full of received documents due to a
lack of recording paper or a recording paper jam.
Load paper (page 31, 32, 101) or remove the
jammed paper (page 122).
R If the PC fax setting (feature #442 on page 78) is set
to "ALWAYS", check the connection between the
computer and the unit.
R If the fax preview mode (feature #448 on page 64)
is set to "ON", use the web browser on the computer
connected via the LAN to view, print or save the
documents, and then erase unnecessary
documents (page 64).
----- R The document was not fed into the unit properly.
Re-insert it and try again.
R The ADF top cover is not fully closed. Push firmly on
the front and rear edges of the ADF top cover, and
then feed the document again.
----- R The other party's fax machine is busy or has run out
of recording paper. Try again.
R The other party's fax machine rings too many times.
Send the fax manually (page 57).
R The other party's machine is not a fax machine.
Check with the other party.
R The number you dialled is not in service.
----- R MwN was pressed and fax communication was
cancelled.
----- R The front cover was opened. Close it and try again.
----- R Fax transmission or reception was successful.
