11.1 Report messages

To indicate the unit's fax transmission/reception status, one of the following messages will be printed on the sending
and journal reports (page 39).

Code Cause & Solution
40-42 R A transmission or reception error occurred. Try
46-72 again or check with the other party.
FF
43 R A line problem occurred. Connect the telephone line
44 cord to a different jack and try again.
R An overseas transmission error occurred. Try using
the overseas mode (feature #411 on page 61).
----- R Remove the jammed document (page 103).
53 R A transmission or reception error occurred because
54 of a problem with the other party's fax machine.
59 Check with the other party.

----- R The junk fax prohibitor feature of this unit rejected
fax reception.
----- R The memory is full of received documents due to a
lack of recording paper or a recording paper jam.
Load paper (page 14) or remove the jammed paper
(page 98).
R If the PC fax setting (feature #442 on page 64) is set
to "ALWAYS", check the connection between the
computer and the unit.
R If your unit is connected to the computer via the LAN
and the fax preview mode (feature #448 on
page 51) is set to "ON", view, print or save the
documents on the web browser, and then erase
unnecessary documents (page 51).
----- R The document was not fed into the unit properly.
Re-insert it and try again.
R The ADF top cover is not fully closed. Push firmly on
the front and rear edges of the ADF top cover, and
then feed the document again.
----- R The other party's fax machine is busy or has run out
of recording paper. Try again.
R The other party's fax machine rings too many times.
Send the fax manually (page 39).
R The other party's machine is not a fax machine.
Check with the other party.
R The number you dialled is not in service.
----- R MSTOPN was pressed and fax communication was
cancelled.
----- R The top cover was opened. Close it and try again.
----- R Fax transmission or reception was successful.
