4. Relay unit (starting circuit cutoff relay)
S Disconnect the relay unit from the coupler.
S Connect the pocket tester (Ω
tery (12 V) to the relay unit terminals as
shown.
Battery positive terminal ! red/black
Battery negative terminal !
Tester positive probe ! blue
Tester negative probe ! black
S Does the starting circuit cutoff relay have
continuity between blue and blue/white?
YES
ELECTRIC STARTING SYSTEM

Replace the relay
unit.

5. Relay unit (diode)
S Disconnect the relay unit from the coupler.
S Connect the pocket tester (Ω
unit terminals as shown.
S Check the diode for continuity as follows.
Tester positive probe !
sky blue
Tester negative probe !
black/yellow
Tester positive probe !
sky blue
Tester negative probe !
blue/yellow
Tester positive probe !
black/yellow
Tester negative probe !
sky blue
Tester positive probe !
blue/yellow
Tester negative probe !
sky blue
NOTE:
When you switch the tester's positive and
negative probes, the readings in the above
chart will be reversed.
S Are the tester readings correct?
