Test the Alarm Package (if
equipped)
Genie specifications require that this procedure be
performed every 250 hours or quarterly, whichever
comes first.
The alarm package includes:
• Travel alarm
• Descent alarm
• Flashing beacon
Alarms and a beacon are installed to alert
operators and ground personnel of machine
proximity and motion. The alarm package is
installed on the turntable covers.

At the ground controls, pull out the red
Emergency Stop button to the on position and
turn the key switch to ground control.
Result: The flashing beacon should be on and
flashing.

Move the primary boom switch to the down
position, hold for a moment and then release
it. Move the secondary boom switch to the
down position, hold for a moment and then
release it. Move the jib boom switch to the
down position, hold for a moment and then
release it.
Result: The descent alarm should sound when
each switch is held down.

Turn the key switch to platform control.

At the platform controls pull out the red
Emergency Stop button to the on position.
Result: The flashing beacon should be on and
flashing.

Press down the foot switch. Move the primary
boom switch to the down position, hold for a
moment and then release it. Move the
secondary boom switch to the down position,
hold for a moment and then release it. Move
the jib boom switch to the down position, hold
for a moment and then release it.
Result: The descent alarm should sound when
each control switch is held down.

Press down the foot switch. Move the drive
control handle off center, hold for a moment
and then release it. Move the drive control
handle off center in the opposite direction,
hold for a moment and then release it.
Result: The travel alarm should sound when
the drive control handle is moved off center in
either direction.
