11.1.1 Internet fax report messages (error code list)

If an Internet fax could not be sent or received, an error code is displayed on the journal and sending report. If
you cannot solve the problem by the following instructions, consult your network administrator.
Error Code
C0
There is a problem with the network.
C1
A communication error occurred during
the initial procedure.
C2
Connection was lost due to the size of the
email being too large.
The SMTP settings are incorrect.
C3
The email address was incorrect.
C5
There is a problem with the network.
C6
The specified SMTP server could not be
accessed.
C7
There is a problem with the network.
C8
The format of data received is not
supported.
C9
The POP server cannot be accessed
(incorrect POP server IP address). The
POP server is down.
CA
The POP server cannot be accessed
(user name or password error).
CC-CD
Error received from DNS server/DNS
server connection timed out/DNS server
is down.
CE
Authentication failed when connecting to
the SMTP server (SMTP authentication).

11.2 General messages

To indicate the unit's status, one or more of the following messages will appear on the display.

"CHANGE DRUM"
"CHECK DOCUMENT"

Cause
Cause & Solution
• There is something wrong with the unit. Contact our service personnel.
• There is something wrong with the drum cartridge. Replace the drum cartridge
and the toner cartridge.
• The document was not fed into the unit properly. Remove the document, and
then press
/STOP to clear the message. Re-insert the document. If
misfeeding occurs frequently, clean the document feeder rollers (page 177)
and try again.
• The ADF top cover is not fully closed. Push firmly on the front and rear edges
of the ADF top cover, and then feed the document again.
• The drum cartridge is not inserted properly. Re-insert it correctly (page 26).

Solution
Check the 10 Base-T/100 Base-TX/1000 Base-
T cable connection.
Ask the other party to resend the document.
Split the document into smaller parts and
resend them. Check the SMTP settings.
Check the registered email address.
Check the 10 Base-T/100 Base-TX/1000 Base-
T cable connection.
Check the IP address setting of the SMTP
server.
Check the 10 Base-T/100 Base-TX/1000 Base-
T cable connection.
Ask the sender to resend the attachment data
in a supported format, as follows:
• TIFF-F format
• Image data that matches the paper size
Check the POP server IP address.
Check the POP user name and password, and
the APOP settings.
Check the POP server name. Check the SMTP
server name. Check the DNS server IP
address.
Check the SMTP authentication user name
and password.
