Bearing Race Replacement - Honda rebel 250 Service Manual

FRONT WHEEL/SUSPENSION/STEERING
Remove
the
upper
bearing inner
race, steel bells (21)
end
steering
stem.
NOTE
•
Be
careful
not to loose the
steel
balls.
BEARING RACE
REPLACEMENT
NOTE
•
Always
replace the bearings
and
races
as
a
set.
Remove
the
upper and lower bearing outer races using the
special
tools.
TOOL
Ball
race
remover
07946-1790000
Install
tho steering
stem
nut
onto
the
stem
to
prevent
the
threads from being
damaged when
removing
the
lower
bearing
inner race from the stem.
Remove
the
lower bearing
inner race
with a
chisel or equiv-
alent
tool,
being
careful
not
to
damage
the stem.
Remove
the dust
seal
and washer.

DUST SEAL/WASHER

LOWER INNER RACE
Install the
washer
onto the
steering
stem.
Apply grease
to
new
dust seal
lips
and
install
it
over
the
steering stem.
Install
a
new
lower bearing inner race using
a special tool
and
a
hydraulic press.
