Transferred vehicle data when using Apple
CarPlay™ and Android Auto™
Notes on transferred vehicle data
When using Android Auto™ or Apple CarPlay™,
certain vehicle data is transferred to the mobile
phone. This enables you to get the best out of
selected mobile phone services. Vehicle data is
not directly accessible.

R
The transfer of this data is used to optimize the
communication between the vehicle and mobile
phone.
To do this, and to assign several vehicles to the
mobile phone, a vehicle ID is randomly gener‐
ated.
This has no connection to the vehicle identifica‐
tion number (VIN) and is deleted when the multi‐
media system is reset (
page 232).
Driving status data:
Transmission position engaged
R
Distinction between parked, standstill, rolling
R
and driving
Day/night mode of the instrument cluster
R
The transfer of this data is used to alter how
content is displayed to correspond to the driving
situation.
Position data:
GPS coordinates
R
speed
R
compass direction
R
acceleration direction
R
gyroscopic forces
R
This data is only transferred while the navigation
system is active in order to improve it (e.g. so it
can continue functioning when in a tunnel).
If you do not consent to vehicle data being trans‐
ferred, you can deactivate the automatic start of
Android Auto™ (
page 245) or Apple CarPlay™
(
page 244) and temporarily terminate the USB
connection between the mobile phone and vehi‐
cle.
