332 Wheels and tires
Only use tires, wheels or accessories tested
and approved by Mercedes-Benz.
* NOTE Risk to driving safety from retrea‐
ded tires
Retreaded tires are neither tested nor recom‐
mended by Mercedes-Benz, since previous
damage cannot always be detected on
retreaded tires.
For this reason driving safety cannot be guar‐
anteed.
Do not use used tires if you have no
#
information about their previous usage.
* NOTE Possible damage to wheels or tires
when driving over obstacles
Large wheels have a lower tire section width.
The lower the tire section width, the greater
is the risk of damage to wheels or tires when
driving over obstacles.
Avoid obstacles or drive particularly
#
carefully.
* NOTE Damage to electronic component
parts from the use of tire-mounting tools
Vehicles with a tire pressure monitoring
system: Electronic component parts are
located in the wheel. Tire-mounting tools
should not be used in the area of the valve.
This could otherwise damage the electronic
component parts.
Have the tires changed at a qualified
#
specialist workshop only.
* NOTE Damage to summer tires at low
ambient temperatures
Using summer tires at very low ambient tem‐
peratures can cause cracks to form, thereby
damaging the tires permanently.
At temperatures below 45 °F (7 °C) use
#
M+S tires.
Accessory parts that are not approved for your
vehicle by Mercedes-Benz or that are not being
used correctly can impair operating safety.
Before purchasing and using non-approved
accessories, visit a qualified specialist workshop
and inquire about:

to drive to the specialist workshop.
Only mount tires of the correct size onto the
R
