Starter is energized for hours, resulting
in:
Burned hold-in coil
Burned armature and field coils
Burned subswitch (if so equipped)
Burned motor coil
Burned pull-in and hold-in coils
(minor defect)
Plunger fails to return when
voltage is applied to circuit
between M and (–) terminals and
plunger is pushed in with switch off
starter
Switch will not turn off only when engine
fails to fire, resulting in burning of motor
coil
Burned motor coil
Burned pull-in and hold-in coils
Dotted lines indicate failure of contact
points to close
Sticking pinion metal
Burned hold-in coil and motor coil
Make reference to "Pull-in and hold-in
coil unbalance"
Make reference to "Key not returning
completely"
