4.Relay unit (starting circuit cutoff relay)
• Disconnect the relay unit from the cou-
pler.
• Connect the pocket tester (Ω × 1) and
battery (12 V) to the relay unit terminals
as shown.
Battery positive terminal → red/black 1
Battery negative terminal →
Tester positive probe → blue 3
Tester negative probe → blue/white 4
• Does the starting circuit cutoff relay
have continuity between blue and blue/
white?
YES
ELECTRIC STARTING SYSTEM
black/yellow 2
NO
Replace the relay
unit.

5.Relay unit (diode)
• Disconnect the relay unit from the cou-
pler.
• Connect the pocket tester (Ω × 1) to the
relay unit terminals as shown.
• Check the diode for continuity as fol-
lows.

NOTE:
When you switch the tester's positive
and negative probes, the readings in the
above chart will be reversed.
