Removing the Speaker Assembly

Use this procedure to remove the speaker assembly that is mounted inside the
chassis on the middle support bracket directly behind the removable media bays.
To remove the speaker assembly, perform the following:
1. Observe the safety and ESD precautions listed at the beginning of this
chapter.
2. Power off the system. Ensure the power cords are unplugged from the AC
wall outlet.
3. Remove the two system fan modules and fan cage from the chassis (see
Figure 4-70) to allow access to the speaker assembly inside the chassis. See
Removing the fan modules earlier in this chapter.

4. Unplug the speaker assembly cable from connector P36 on the system board.
5. Locate the speaker assembly that is directly behind the removable media
bays mounted on the on the middle support bracket of the chassis. Remove
the screw securing the speaker assembly to the chassis and slide the
assembly up and out of its support bracket and out of the chassis (see Figure
4-71). Save the screw for reassembly later.
