Tools'

You may need the following tools to install the Optima thermostat.
• Smartphone or camera to take pictures
• Phillips or flathead screwdriver
• Small screwdriver to disconnect wires from old terminals
• Pencil
• Drill with 3/16" bit (only if you cannot mount the thermostat
using the existing holes)

Turn'off'power'to'HVAC'system'

Locate the HVAC breaker in the electrical panel and turn OFF the
circuit. In some regions, there may be a switch located near the HVAC
system.
Determine'wiring'configuration'
If the OPTIMA thermostat is being installed in a new system, refer to
Appendix A for the proper wiring configuration and skip to the Install
Mounting Plate section.
