    About this Guide This guide explains how to use the basic features of your new 6735i and 6737i phones. Not all features listed are available by default. Your System Administrator has the ability to customize some features on this phone. Contact your System Administrator to find out which features and services are available to you on your phone.

    Key Panel The following sections describe the various 6735i and 6737i phone key functions on both the symbol and text hardware platforms, and how they help you make and manage your calls and caller information. Images of the text keys and the text hardware platform are used throughout this document.

    Redial Volume control key - Adjusts the volume for the handset, headset, ringer, and handsfree speaker. Line/Call Appearance key - Connects you to a line or call. The Aastra 6735i IP phone sup- Line 4 Line 4 ports up to four line keys. The Aastra 6737i IP phone supports up to nine line keys.

    The "#" is called the "number sign", "pound key", or "hash key". It can be used for special functions such as accessing voicemail. The “pound key” functions are dependent on your country’s feature availabilities.     Making Calls Making Calls This section describes ways to make calls on your 6735i or 6737i phone using your handset, speakerphone or headset. Dialing a Number First, take the phone off-hook by: • Lifting the handset • Pressing • Pressing a line/call appearance button At the dial tone, enter the number you wish to call.

    When handsfree is on, the speaker light turns on. Using a Headset The 6735i and 6737i phones accept headsets through the modular RJ22 jack on the back of the phone. Contact your tele- phone equipment retailer or distributor to purchase a compatible headset.

    Creating Conference Calls The 6735i and 6737i phones allow you to create multiple conferences with unlimited participants (depending on your server limitations) when your System Administrator enables conferencing. Your administrator can configure conferencing globally on all lines or on specific lines. Although, for the global setting to work, you must configure the lines with the applicable phone number.

    Parking and Picking Up Calls The 6735i and 6737i phones have a park and pickup call feature that allows you to park a call and pick up a call when required. When a call comes in and you pick up the handset, you can press the Park softkey to park the call. After the call is parked, you can press the Pickup key, followed by the applicable value to retrieve the call.

    The normal function of the speed dial option allows you to dial a number quickly by pressing a key configured for speed dialing. You can program the keys on the 6735i and 6737i to speed dial outside numbers, dial directly to another person’s line or extension, or set up to quickly access features such as Caller ID (*69), Voicemail.

    Voicemail The Voicemail feature on the 6735i and 6737i IP phones allows you to use a line, configured with a phone number for dialing out, to connect to a voicemail server. Each assigned Voicemail number can have one Voicemail access phone number.

A multitude of other features are available depending on whether or not your System Administrator has configured them for use.     The 6735i or 6737i phone in the local network listens for RTP on the preconfigured multicast address. The Phone displays the Paging message to the phone’s LCD. It uses the G711 uLaw CODEC for multicast RTP.

    All of the main call handling and extension management features using star codes can be set on your phone by your Administrator. If these have not been set up, you can dial any star code commands on the 6735i or 6737i phone the same way you would on a regular telephone.

    Ensure that power is being provided to your phone. If your network does not provide inline power over Ethernet, you can obtain an additional accessory, the Aastra PoE (Power over Ethernet) inline power supply, to provide power over Ethernet locally to your phone.
