Troubleshooting Guide

If a fault occurs, run through the table below before taking your receiver for repair. If the fault persists, attempt to
solve it by switching the receiver off and on again. If this fails to resolve the situation, consult your dealer. Under
no circumstances should you attempt to repair the receiver yourself. This could void the warranty.
Symptom
No power
No sound
No sound from the
surround speakers
No sound from the
center speaker
No sound from the
surround back (or front
height) speakers
Possible cause
The AC input cord is disconnected.
Poor connection at AC wall outlet or the
outlet is dead or off.
The speaker wires are disconnected.
The master volume is adjusted too low.
The MUTE button is pressed to "ON".
Incorrect selection of input source.
Incorrect connections between the
components.
The HDMI AUDIO OUTPUT is set to
"ON".
The settings related to audio are set
incorrectly.
Surround mode is switched off (stereo
mode).
Master volume and surround level are too
low.
Monaural source is used.
Surround speaker setting is set to "NO"
Dolby Virtual Speaker, stereo mode, etc
is selected.
Center speaker setting is set to "NO"
Master volume and center level are too
low.
The input signal format or the current
surround mode cannot support the 7.1 (or
6.1) surround.
The surround back channels' power
amplifier is assigned to "ROOM2".
Master volume and surround back level
are too low.
Surround back speaker is set to "NO".
Remedy
Connect cord securely.
Check the outlet using a lamp or
another appliance.
Check the speaker connections.
Adjust the master volume.
Press the MUTE button to cancel the
muting effect.
Select the desired input source
correctly.
Make connections correctly.
Set it to AMP. For details, see "HDMI
Audio Output" of "Setting the HDMI
Setup" on page 63.
Set the settings correctly. For details,
see "Setting the Input Setup" on
page 60.
Select a surround mode.
Adjust master volume and surround
level.
Select a stereo or surround source.
Select the desired surround speaker
setting.
Select the desired surround mode.
Select the desired center speaker
setting.
Adjust master volume and center
level.
Under the proper situations, perform
the 7.1 (or 6.1) surround playback.

Assign the power amplifier to the
surround back (or front height)
channels. For details, see "AMP
Assign" of "Setting the System
Setup" on page 56.
Adjust master volume and surround
back (or front height) level.
Select the desired surround back (or
front height) speaker setting.
