Cancelling the surround mode for
stereo operation

Press the STEREO button.
•
Depending on the signal format which is being
input, either the stereo mode or the 2CH
downmix mode is selected.

To cancel either the stereo mode or the 2CH
downmix mode, select the surround mode using
the SURROUND MODE UP(>)/DOWN(<) buttons.
Note
2CH downmix mode
• This mode allows the multi-channel signals encoded in
DTS or Dolby Digital format, etc. to be mixed down into
2 front channels and to be reproduced through only two
front speakers or through headphones.
• If headphones are plugged in to this receiver while
playing the multi-channel digital signals from DTS
or Dolby Digital sources, etc., it will enter the 2CH
downmix mode automatically.

Adjusting each channel level with test tone

The volume level of each channel can be adjusted
easily with the test tone function.

Press the TEST button on the remote control.
• The test tone will be heard from the speaker of
each channel for 2 seconds as follows:
FRNT L [ F.H L]  CENTER [ F.H R] 
Front Left Front Height Left
FRNT R  SURR R  (BACK R  BACK L)
Front Right Surround Right Surr.Back Right Surr.Back Left
 SURR L  SUB W
Surround Left Subwoofer
( ) : Possible depending on whether the surround
back channel is set to "2ch" or "1ch".
[ ] : Possible only when the front height speaker is
not set to "NO".

• When the speaker setting is "NO", the test
tone of the corresponding channel is not
available.

Adjust the level as desired until the sound level of
each speaker is heard equally loud at each level.
• You can select the desired channel by pressing
the CURSOR UP()/DOWN() buttons.

Finish the test tone function by pressing the TEST
