Ethernet/Modem Connections

The VIA!dvdj must access the Internet in order to obtain Title information, Cover
Art, etc. Both a Dial-Up Modem port and an Ethernet port are provided for this pur-
pose. Whenever possible, ELAN recommends connecting to a high-speed Internet
connection through the Ethernet port.
Ethernet Connections
Connect an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet jack on the rear of the VIA!dvdj. Connect
the other end to an Ethernet port that is connected to a home network. This con-
nection provides the fastest access to the Internet.
Note: A DHCP server must be present on the home network in order for the
VIA!dvdj to automatically configure settings to access the Internet.
Dial-Up Modem Connections
If unable to access the Internet through the Ethernet, connect a standard analog
telephone line between the RJ11 connector on the VIA!dvdj and a telephone wall
jack to access the Internet with the VIA!dvdj's built-in Modem.
