Component Video Connections-Multiple DVD Changers
When interfacing a VIA!dvdj with multiple DVD Changers, a means must be used to
distribute both Audio and Video signals to various areas of the house. Special con-
siderations must be made when distributing Component Video signals from multiple
DVD Changers to one or several TVs or monitors with Component Video Inputs.
ELAN Z•880 Connections
With VIA!
TOOLS Rev. 5.3 or higher, up to three ELAN Z•880 Video Switchers can be

stacked together to make an 8 X 8 Component Video Switcher that can easily be
controlled and programmed using automatically generated IR or RS-232 Sequences.
Each Z•880 is assigned an identical Unit ID (usually #1) and will switch simultane-
ously when IR or RS-232 commands are received. Up to four DVD Changers and a
total of eight Component Video sources can be distrubuted using three Z•880s.
To Configure Component Video Signals from Multiple DVD Changers to One
or More TVs/Monitors:
1. Assign each Z•880 to one portion of the Component Video signal.
• Z•880 #1 for Y
• Z•880 #2 for P

2. Connect each DVD Changer to an Input of each Z•880:
• Changer 1 to Input 1, Changer 2 to Input 2, etc.
3. Assign each TV/monitor to an Output of each Z•880. Make absolutely sure to
maintain Y/P

connections for both Inputs and Outputs!
