Testing the electro-mechanical parking brake

Note
This test should only be carried out on mobility aids with conventional motor/transmission units.
CAUTION!
Material damage can be caused to the electronics module due to short-circuits in the
electro-mechanical brake.
· NEVER connect an electro-mechanical brake to an intact electronics module with a short-
circuit!
· Always replace short-circuited brakes immediately.
Note
A defective motor can damage the power module, but a defective power module cannot camage
the motor.
Requirements:
· Phillips screwdriver size 2
· digital multimeter with resistance measurement
·
Remove the rear cover as described in chapter 8.1.1.
·
Pull the motor plug (1) out of the power module.
·
Connect the digital multimeter to the adjacent central motor plug contacts (3) and measure the
resistance between the contacts.
·
If there is a defect, replace the motor and send it to Invacare® Service for inspection or repair.
