Setting the Gain

This function electrically boosts the light sensitivity
when there is insufficient illumination on the object.
You can set the gain of the video amplifier
according to the brightness of the object. Select the
setting mode according to your shooting
conditions.

Automatic Gain Mode (Automatic Gain
Adjustment)
1 Set the [AUTO MODE FULL/PRESET/OFF]
switch to "OFF".
2 Set [Camera Function] B [GAIN L]/[GAIN
M]/[GAIN H] to "AGC".

If an item specified with "AGC" is selected using
the [GAIN L/M/H] gain switch, the Auto Gain
Adjustment mode is enabled and the gain of the
video amplifier is automatically set according to
the brightness of the subject.
Memo :
When the [AUTO MODE FULL/PRESET/OFF]

switch is set to "PRESET", the Auto Gain mode
is also enabled if [Main Menu] B [Camera
Function] B [PRESET AUTO] B [Gain] has been
set to Auto mode ("AGC").

Setting the [AUTO MODE FULL/PRESET/

OFF] switch to "FULL" to enter the Full Auto
mode also activates the Auto Gain mode. In this
case, the Iris, Shutter and White Balance also
enter into Auto mode forcibly.
The switching operation of the [GAIN L/M/H]

switch is disabled in the Full Auto mode.
The upper limit of the gain setting value during

AGC operation can be set in [Main Menu] B
[Camera Function] B [AGC Limit].

Setting the Gain
While in the "AGC" mode, and [AE/FAW Lock]

is set to "AE" or "AE/FAW", a Z icon appears on
the left side of the gain value during lock
operation.

Manual Gain Mode (Manual Gain
Switching)
1 Set the [AUTO MODE FULL/PRESET/OFF]
switch to "OFF".
Select the gain level of the video amplifier

using the [GAIN L/M/H] selection switch on
the camera recorder.
The gain level appears on the screen.

2 Select [GAIN L/M/H] that is not set to "AGC"
to switch to the Manual Gain mode.
Memo :
You can change the gain value of each position

in the menu. Increasing the sensitivity causes
the screen to appear grainier.
The camera recorder switches to the Auto Gain

Switching the Gain Display
You can change the gain display to display in dB
(decibel) or ISO sensitivity using the menu screen.
1 Set [Main Menu] B [LCD/VF] B [Display
Settings] B [Gain] to "dB" or "ISO".
dB:
0
Displays the gain in dB (decibel).
ISO:
0
Displays the gain as ISO sensitivity.
