This section provides specifications, drawings, and procedures needed for installing an SLM-8,
part no. 580.2101.

Each SLM-8 is equipped with four RJ-14 jacks, and each jack represents two single line ports,
as shown below in

Single Line Module Pinouts
The pinout design for four-port and eight-port Single Line Module jacks (SLM-4 and SLM-8) is
the same. Each RJ-14 jack represents two single line ports for connecting single line analog
endpoints. The middle four pins in the RJ-14 connector are wired in accordance with Uniform
Service Order Code (USOC) T568A specifications, as shown in
Each SLM-8 is equipped with two light-emitting diode
(LED) status lamps, one yellow and labeled BUSY,
and one green, labeled ONLINE. The yellow BUSY
LED indicates that one of the ports programmed on
the module is processing an active call. The green
ONLINE LED indicates that the module is recognized
by the system and ready for use.

All cabling connected to the RJ-14 interfaces should be constructed of
standard 24-gauge twisted pair cable. To ensure reliable operation of single
line endpoints connected to the Inter-Tel 5000 platform, do not use flat ribbon
cabling or untwisted pair cabling.
