Replacing the Processor Module Battery

Because the processor module battery, part no. 815.1026, is located on the module, do not
remove the cover to replace the battery.
NOTICES
Equipment Damage. Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace only with
the same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer. Dispose of used batteries
according to the manufacturer instructions.
Electrostatic Discharge (ESD). Inter-Tel 5000 modules and components are static-sensitive.
When working with the modules, use a properly terminated anti-static wrist strap and cover
the work surface with the bag that protected the module during shipping, or place the
component on some other anti-static surface. Any static charge, no matter how small, must
be discharged from the body before touching modules or other components. The warranty for
this equipment does not cover damage caused by static or mishandling. Modules or

Perform a Database backup using DB Programming. You can also back up the database
the LCD panel. Refer to the Programming chapter in the Inter-Tel 5000 Features and
Programming Guide (part no: 580.8006) for details.
Perform a voice mail backup. Use a USB flash drive attached to the USB-A port on the
front of the Inter-Tel 5000 Base Server chassis. Do not back up VM to the compact flash-
type Inter-Tel memory card. See
5000 Features and Programming Guide (part no: 580.8006) for additional information.
Shut down the system using the LCD panel. See Figure 5-14 on
illustration of the menu locations.
Unplug the power cord. Make sure you are wearing a properly terminated, ant-static
wrist strap for the remainder of this procedure.
Loosen the fastener at the top of the module.
Remove the processor module from the chassis and place it onto the anti-static bag that
came with the module, or onto some other anti-static surface.
Locate the battery and carefully remove it from the processor module. Replace the
battery with the new battery.
Insert the module carefully so that it aligns with the rails inside the chassis, then gently
slide the module into the chassis until it stops. Do not use force.
Finger-tighten the fastener at the top of the module, securing it to the chassis. Do not
over-tighten this fastener.
