7.5.1 Exposure

The exposure is the amount of light received by the image sensor and is determined by the amount of
exposure by the sensor (shutter speed), and other exposure parameters.
Administrators may either allow the camera to automatically select an exposure level using a
programmed algorithm or choose the level themselves. Even in Auto Shutter, a Minimum Shutter
Speed may be set, from a drop-down menu, to ensure a maximum level of exposure. In Manual Mode,
the administrator chooses from a drop-down list of Fixed Shutter speeds. The smaller the number (the
higher the shutter speed) an administrator selects, the lower the exposure level and vice versa. Below
is an illustration of the Camera menu when the Exposure tab has been clicked.
Auto Shutter
In this mode, the camera's shutter speed works automatically to get consistent video output level. The
shutter speed range is from 1 to 1/500 sec (NTSC) and 1/1.5 to 1/425 (PAL). Users should select
suitable shutter speed according to the environmental luminance.
