Memory: Each of the two memory controllers uses two ports with 8 bytes that connect to a
buffer chip. Each buffer chip connects to four DIMMs running at 1066 MHz, with two
DIMMs being active at a given point in time. See Figure 2-9 on page 55 for reference. The
bandwidth formula is calculated as follows:
2 memory controller * 2 ports * 8 bytes * 2 DIMMs * 1066 MHz = 68.224 GBps.

2.4 Capacity on Demand

The Power 750 offers Capacity Backup (CBU) for IBM i only. No other Capacity on Demand
(CoD) offerings are available.
The Power 760 server offers Capacity Upgrade on Demand (CUoD) for processors to help
meet changing processor requirements in an on-demand environment, by using resources
that are installed on the system but that are not activated.
No other processor CoD options: Processor Elastic (On/Off) CoD or Utility CoD or Trial
CoD is not provided. Also memory CoD is not available for Power 750 and Power 760.
Capacity Backup for IBM i is also available for Power 760.

2.4.1 Capacity Upgrade on Demand

With the Capacity Upgrade on Demand (CUoD) offering for the Power 760 system, you can
purchase additional permanent processor capacity and dynamically activate them when
needed, without requiring you to restart your server or interrupt your business.
The Power 760 systems requires a minimum of eight cores being activated. For further
activations, the following feature codes can be used to activate additional cores:
FC EPT5: one additional core for 3.1 GHz processors
FC EPT6: one additional core for 3.4 GHz processors

2.4.2 Capacity Backup offering (applies only to IBM i)

The Power 750 and Power 760 systems Capacity Backup (CBU) designation can help meet
your requirements for a second system to use for backup, high availability, and disaster
recovery. It enables you to temporarily transfer IBM i processor license entitlements and 5250
Enterprise Enablement entitlements purchased for a primary machine to a secondary
CBU-designated system. Temporarily transferring these resources instead of purchasing
them for your secondary system may result in significant savings. Processor activations
cannot be transferred.
The CBU specify FC 0444 is available only as part of a new server purchase. Certain system
prerequisites must be met, and system registration and approval are required before the CBU
specify feature can be applied on a new server.
