Connecting the 3240 to a Mainframe

To connect a 3240 printer directly to an IBM mainframe, you need:
a coax adapter card.
a coaxial cable equivalent to IBM part number 2577672 or 1833108.

The maximum cable length allowed is 4920 feet (1500 meters). See the IBM
specification Installation and Assembly of Coaxial Cable and Accessories, part
number GA27-2805-4, for further information.
If you did not have the coax adapter card installed at the factory, you can install
the field-installable option (Intermec Part No. 067880) in the optional I/O board
port of your printer.
For help on cabling and communications, see the External Coax/Twinax Interface
Card User's Manual (Part No. 068453) that comes with the twinax adapter card.
